SUB-TITLE: “Facilitating Meetings with a Disciplined
Approach…that Doesn’t Feel Disciplined!”
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
Participants will learn to:
-
Interpret and manage the dynamics of a group process
(meeting), and overcome apprehensions about leading.
-
Apply a StoryBoard ‘template’ to facilitate the meeting
process.
-
Engage participants in the meeting process, and solicit
and capture the best thinking of the group.
-
Forge the group’s best thinking into a consensus on what
the issues are, and what to do about them.
-
Adjourn a meeting having secured buy-in from the group,
and their commitment to executable action plans.
DESCRIPTION:
This course is appropriate for anyone who needs to periodically stand in
front of a working group, identify issues in need of attention, develop
consensus on what those issues are, and secure the commitment of the group
to support actionable plans for addressing the issues. The techniques for
facilitation presented in this course are applicable to any
environment…business, church groups, civic/service organizations,
trade/professional groups, social clubs, boards of directors, etc… The
course includes a workbook (approximately 50 pages in length) for
note-taking and reference. The format of the course is based upon:
-
Informal Lecture with Participation by Attendees
-
Support by PowerPoint Slide Presentation
-
Ample Time for Questions, Answers, and Working Examples
Three principal benefits one could expect to result from participating
are:
